Dear Co-Workers,

Congratulations to all of our new Star Recorders!  You are part of the 252 co-workers who received the Star Recorder Degree in June in Las Vegas, and we're very proud of you.  I'm sure each of you had a wonderful Chapter Activity night or afternoon in honor of your accomplishments.  I know that your chapter appreciates all of the many hours you have devoted to keeping the Chapter's finances and records.  Thanks, and again, congratulations.  A special thank you to all of the Past and Present Dignitaries who conducted the numerous RTT, RATT, and Executive Sessions and the make-up sessions to teach the Recorders, Audit Committees and Co-Workers the latest information from Moose International about the operation of our Chapters.  We appreciate all of the time and effort you have given to these sessions!

Please remember to support the "Gimme 5" program - a nickel in the morning and a nickel in the evening to support our children at Mooseheart.  Other ideas:  (1) some chapters have co-workers sign a ticket (or small slip of paper) as they enter the Chapter meeting.  After the Endowment Fund, a special collection is taken, and co-workers put in their name ticket along with their contribution.  When $36.50 has been collected, all of the tickets are put in a container, and one ticket is drawn.  The $36.50 (representing a one-year donation) is then sent to Moose Charities, earmarked for the "Gimme 5" program in that Co-Workers name.  This continues again and again throughout the chapter year. (2) In some Chapters, co-workers have held a special fund-raising activity/project for "Gimme 5" and have raised as much as the $182.50 for the full 5 -year donation.  Be creative and help us help our children.

Please support the Box Top and Campbell's Labels for Education programs, also to benefit the schools and children at Mooseheart.  These two websites, as well as other Moose Charities Partnership Programs websites, which give informatioon about how we can help our children at Mooseheart, are listed below:  www.boxtops4education.com: www.labelsforeducation.com; www.target.com/tcoe; www.cartridgesforkids.com; www.goodsearch.com; www.goodsearch.com/goodshop.aspx; www.goplaylabels.com; www.mycokerewards.com; and www.tyson.com/projectaplus.com.  Please check out these sites as they don't cost you anything (other than what you normally purchase, and the time to clip the labels, boxtops, etc.), but will help out tremendously.

Another important website to visit is our own N.Y.S. Moose Association website which is being kept current by Dan Saikkonen.  He enters information and events for lodges and chapters on an almost daily basis.  He's doing an excellent job, so send your chapter events to him at dsaikkonen@yahoo.com and he will put them on the website:  www.nysma.info.  Thanks, Dan!

I will be in Myrtle Beach, S.C. during Jan., Feb. and half of March, but I will only be an e-mail (janetchaffee@gmail.com) or a cell phone call (607-661-6071) away.  Please contact me if you need anything.

Remember to mark April 2-5, 2009 on your calendar for the Mid-Year Conference at the Holiday Inn in Grand Island.  Gowanda is the Hostess Chapter, and Jan Fregulia, Executive Director of Moose Charities  at Moose International will be our Official Visitor.  It's always a great pleasure and a wonderful learning experience to have Jan with us in N.Y. S.  Please see the registration form included in this bulletin, which  you may use.  Also, more information will be included in the Feb./March issue of "The Bulletin".

Co-Workers and Brothers, Elliott and I wish each and every one of you a very Happy Holiday Season!  Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa, we hope you enjoy this time together with your family and friends.  Best wishes for a healthy and Happy New Year.  May 2009 be a year that is "Beyond Belief!"

Fraternally,

Janet Chaffee, DGR
