Dear Brothers and Co-Workers,

My year is quickly coming to an end and I have had a great time serving as your president.
I hope everyone's election went well and you have some good elected leaders to help your lodge grow. Our membership is gaining, but we still need to bring in new members every month to reach our goal.
Remember to work on retention, give them a call or send a card to remind them their dues are not paid.
Don't forget the International Convention in Nashville, Tennessee, July 1-7. I hope to see everyone there. Lets have a good turnout from New York State. There will be a lot of new information. See you there.
I will be leaving on Friday for Mooseheart to help congratulate our 5 new Pilgrims we have in NYS this year. Congratulations to all.
Don't forget Darien Lake, New York, June 3-6. If you come, you will have a great time, fun for all. See you there.
Administrators and Governors, please turn in your reports to Moose International on a timely basis so we can improve our New York State ranking.

Fraternally,

Well, 2010 is upon us, a new year. As you know we had a good year in membership production last year. As of right now we are behind last year, so Brother and Co-Workers, let’s get out there and talk Moose. Be creative and continue to come up with new ways and ideas to bring in new members.

Remember our New York Membership Promotion - a chance to win a 37” or a big flat screen television for every new or former member you sponsor. For every 5 new or former members sponsored, your lodge receives another chance in the drawing for a television. Most of the time when you ask someone why they are not a Moose Member, the answer often will be, no one ever asked me, so ask someone to join.

Remember to work on retention, give them a call or send a card to remind them their dues are not paid.

Don’t forget the New York State Moose Association $100.00 Donation Special Fundraiser.

The Mid-Year Conference will be held on April 8-11, 2010, in Owego, N.Y. We are starting a day early, because of training. The Conference will start at 10:00 AM on Thursday. I am looking forward to seeing all of you there.

There will be hotel information and pre-registration forms in this issue of The Bulletin.

Please consider a donation to the hospitality room, so Bill Winder and crew can continue to provide you with the entertainment you enjoy.

Fraternally yours,

Brian B. Best

Message 1, 2010

Dear Brothers and Co-Workers,

Happy Holidays to Everyone.

The past couple of months, I have visited a few lodges for such activities as Pilgrim Presentation Ceremonies and the Empire Allstate Moose Celebration. In October I attended the Annual Sport Meeting at Owego Lodge. Just want to say thank you for such a nice time. I wish we could get more lodges to bid. It helps promote these sport events and helps your lodge get more membership.

Let's talk about membership. We are slipping a little. What better way to bring in the New Year than to help a current member or a new member, by paying their dues as a gift.

The fact is NYSMA currently ranks 39th out of 44 associations. One of the primary reasons is completion of reports and timely submission to Mooseheart. Lodge Officers, you need to make sure your reports are on time.

Let's not forget about the "Gimme 5" Campaign. We need to encourage members to give what they can.

The State Executive Board Meeting will be held on the last weekend in January, in Corning Lodge. I hope to see everyone there.

Sue and I wish all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Fraternally,

Brian B. Best
